Standard #7

STANDARD 7: STUDENT ASSESSMENT AND DATA ANALYSIS

  • The teacher candidate understands and uses formative and summative assessment strategies to assess the learner’s progress and uses both classroom and standardized assessment data to plan ongoing instruction.

Alignment to Standard

  •  Standard 7 of the Missouri Early Learning Standards emphasizes the importance of using student assessment data to guide teaching practices and to inform decisions that support student growth and learning. This standard requires educators to collect, analyze, and apply data to improve educational outcomes for all children. My artifact, is a behavioral intervention plan (BIP) that was created in collaboration with my teaching team, it is an example of how we use data and assessment to support an individual student’s development. The BIP is a data-driven document. We used the assessment data to identify goals and outline strategies to promote positive behavior changes. We also established methods for ongoing data collection to track the student’s progress and adjust the interventions as needed.

Reflection

  • Reflecting on the development and implementation of the Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) created by my teaching team for a student in our classroom, I have gained a deeper understanding of its significance. I have observed the student’s growth and can clearly see how the BIP has positively impacted her progress thus far. This experience has been invaluable, as it has provided me with insight into the process of developing and applying a BIP, and how it can effectively support a student’s success.
